Perry International Airport is a private owned one-mile long grass runway located in rural South Carolina.  It is the home of “Perry Soaring”, a group of 4 -5 soaring friends.  We are pleased to sponsor 2009 Region 5 North. 

Competition dates for 2009 Region 5 North will be April 20 – 25, 2009.  Practice days will be April 18 – 19, 2009.  there will be a limit of 65 contestants.  Cut off date for preferential entry is February 19, 2009.  The 2009 SSA pilot ranking list will be used to determine priority.   Competition classes for 2009 R5N will be Sports Class, Standard Class, 15 Meter Class and 18 Meter Class.  Water ballast will be allowed.  In Sports Class there will be 5 entry slots to which inverted preference applies.   For remaining Sports Class slots the preference number will be the Pilot Ranking Score.   ELTs will not be required for this contest. 

Contest fee is $430.  A $100 deposit with completed application packet is required by February 19, 2009, to hold your place on the entry list, with the remainder due at the registration desk upon arrival.   The $430 contest fee does not include relights, practice day tows or aero retrieves. 

A Welcome Dinner will be provided free of charge Sunday evening for pilots and crew.  Evening meals at the field will be available  3 nights during the contest.  Tickets will be available at registration.   

For pilots planning to camp with electrical hookup there is a $10 per night fee.  Electrical hookups are limited.  If you would like to reserve an electrical hookup you must let Al or Rhonda Tyler know as soon as possible.
